Please note, this is evaluation data. For effective data, please use the following page:
www.nats.aero/ais/datasets.
Please find below an overview of the dataset evaluation page. Several of these datasets, indicated by greyed out icons, are already effective and available at http://www.nats.aero/ais/datasets, while the remaining datasets are available here for evaluation purposes only. These evaluation datasets are not effective and are not for operational use, but they can be used to evaluate your ability to ingest and utilise the data format. AIS intends to provide these files to gather feedback from end users and work collaboratively in order to provide a usable and fit for purpose dataset service.
The datasets have been constructed using the Eurocontrol AIXM data coding guidelines as closely as possible.
On this evaluation page the Data Product Specification (DPS) will evolve as feedback is assessed and applied to the datasets, changes will be marked clearly as this happens.
Some datasets are provided with Keyhole Markup format Language (KML) which allows for visual validation of the AIXM format only and is not provided as a authoritative source.
The ICAO Obstacle Area 1 dataset will be provided on the second AIRAC cycle.
ICAO Aerodrome Obstacles Datasets are not comparable to the Aerodromes AIP AD 2.10 section, in order to provide a good evaluation set of data, a reasonable baseline has been selected and updates have been manufactured by AIS to provide records of additions, amendments and deprecations.
The IFP dataset has been complied to minimise duplication between itself and the AIP dataset. This means users will need to process the AIP dataset in order to process the IFP dataset. The IFP dataset content is still the source of discussion in many expert groups, however in AIS we wished to provide as much data for evaluation as possible. One point to note is that the IFP dataset will only contain RNAV procedures and currently does not include final approach minima.
Certain features Universally Unique Identifiers (UUID) will change before the datasets become operational due to ongoing migration activities between AIS and the European AIS Database (EAD).
AIXM files have been presented with the inclusion of AIS internal extensions, which have been converted to XML remarks. This is to allow the user to understand an increase to the sequence and/or correction number of a feature where no apparent AIXM attribution appears to have changed.
Temp DELTA and corrigendum are currently under review and are not being provided at this time. Further details will be given once available.
Feedback on the trial should be directed to aissupervisor@nats.co.uk

Dataset Checklist | The 'Dataset Checklist' offers a summary of the valid datasets. | |
Dataset Specification |
The Product Specification includes an overview of specification scope, data product identification, data content and structure, reference system, data quality, data capture, data maintenance, data portrayal, data product delivery, additional information, and metadata. This framework facilitates and supports the use and exchange of the digital dataset, enabling air navigation users to evaluate the product and determine if it meets their specific requirements for intended applications. |

Obstacle data in eTOD collection Areas 2, 3, and 4 (if applicable) will be provided for aerodromes that are certificated by the CAA under UK Reg (EU) No 139/2014 and to aerodromes that have instrument approach procedures (IFP) (CAP 1732). All other aerodromes (VFR aerodromes) obstacle collection areas will be bounded by the obstacle limitation surfaces appropriate to the runway coding (CAP 232).
Please note: There may be instances where an aerodrome/heliport, which is not within the scope of UK (EU) No 139/2014, may still choose to provide data in the CAP 1732 format.
* Where terrain data is available, a request to the aerodrome operator can be made through contact details in AD 2.2.6
